Cervical Spine VA Disability Rating
Cervical spine strain and related conditions are rated under the General Rating Formula for the Spine (38 CFR 4.71a). Forward flexion of the cervical spine is the primary measurement. Secondary upper-extremity radiculopathy is rated separately.
Rating criteria
| Rating | Criteria |
|---|---|
| 10% | Forward flexion of cervical spine greater than 30 but not greater than 40 degrees. |
| 20% | Forward flexion 15-30 degrees. |
| 30% | Forward flexion 15 degrees or less, OR favorable ankylosis of the entire cervical spine. |
| 40% | Unfavorable ankylosis of the entire cervical spine. |
