Epilepsy VA Disability Rating
Epilepsy rates under DC 8910 (grand mal) or DC 8911 (petit mal) based on seizure frequency over the past year. Rates: 10% (1 major seizure in 2 years), 20% (1 in last year), 40% (≥1/4 months), 60% (≥1/month), 80% (≥1/week), 100% (severe frequency or refractory). Post-TBI seizures rate the same way.
Rating criteria
| Rating | Criteria |
|---|---|
| 10% | 1 major in 2 years OR 2 minor/week. |
| 20% | 1 major in 1 year OR 5-8 minor/week. |
| 40% | ≥1 major every 4 months OR 9-10 minor/week. |
| 60% | ≥1 major every 3 months OR more than 10 minor/week. |
| 80% | ≥1 major every month. |
| 100% | ≥1 major per week or as average of monthly attacks plus. |
