Hip Strain VA Disability Rating
Hip impairment is rated under three diagnostic codes covering limitation of extension (DC 5251), limitation of flexion (DC 5252), and limitation of rotation/adduction/abduction (DC 5253). The codes are not combined; the rater uses whichever produces the highest rating. Bilateral hip conditions invoke 38 CFR 4.26 (10% bilateral factor).
Rating criteria
| Rating | Criteria |
|---|---|
| 10% | Flexion limited to 45 degrees, OR extension limited to 5 degrees. |
| 20% | Flexion limited to 30 degrees. |
| 30% | Flexion limited to 20 degrees. |
