IBS VA Disability Rating
Irritable bowel syndrome is rated under DC 7319. The rating tracks severity of bowel disturbance — frequency of episodes, abdominal distress, and impact on daily functioning. IBS is commonly service-connected as a secondary condition to PTSD via the brain-gut axis, particularly for veterans with PTSD from combat service.
Rating criteria
| Rating | Criteria |

| 0% | Mild — disturbances of bowel function with occasional episodes of abdominal distress. |
| 10% | Moderate — frequent episodes of bowel disturbance with abdominal distress. |
| 30% | Severe — diarrhea, or alternating diarrhea and constipation, with more or less constant abdominal distress. |
